ABOUT THIS PROJECT

THE CONCEPT

BATTLE OF THE DJs

What happens if we select 5 of South Africans best and emerging hip hop DJs, create an event at one of Johannesburg Hottest Nightclubs - Harem Nightclub - where the hip, the cool and the elite BEE gang hang out at most weekends? Ladies and gentlemen... You get: the Battle of the DJs, brought to you by TAG Heuer!


Each DJ gets 10 minutes to show that they have what it takes to be “king of the decks”, each with their own unique hip-hop style and influences - from retro 80s, to David Guetta, to the latest hottest hits from around the world. Throw in some local Kuawto and you have 5 DJs, with 5 very different styles putting together the most epic 10 minute hip hop mash up you have every heard of!


Things don’t get any hotter than the 23rd of April 2016 at Harem Nightclub, where the Battle takes Place. 5 of Joburg’s hottest DJs at their very best battling it out on the decks. But only one winner takes all!


THE GOAL

Many factors come into play when mastering the art of brand activation, primarily an audience’s brand perception. With the BEE market largely untapped as yet, it is crucial that we speak to them now, as every day a new emerging millionaire is made and we want TAG to be top of mind when it comes to Swiss luxury watches. The Battle of the DJs was a high profile event: a strategic brand activation that enabled the brand to communicate with one of their demographic targets.


The purpose of the event was to contribute towards TAG Heuer's brand awareness, by creating a vibrant event built around the TAG Heuer Formula 1 GMT David Guetta Edition watch. The psychical presence of the watch as the prize of the Battle was a great vehicle to spread the brand messaging, and the establishment of new relationships between TAG's products and potential consumers.

We created a video that promoted the TAG Heuer Battle of the DJs Event.
It was showcased across various platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and Instagram.
Reaching out to the followers of TAG Heuer as well as the 5 DJ contestants.


WEBSITE

A one page responsive website showcasing the 5 DJ contestants as well as David Guetta
the Brand Ambassador of the Calibre 7 Swiss Luxury Watch that the contestants were battling for.
The website connected users to all social media platforms as well as
drove traffic to the TAG Heuer site promoting the Calibre 7 Swiss Luxury Watch.
