For the 2023 annual report, aptly titled “Changing The Landscape,” we joined forces with CW to craft a visual narrative that demands attention. Our illustrations don’t just adorn the pages; they leap off them, combining gritty realism with bold symbolism. We didn’t shy away from the raw emotion that permeates the fight against corruption; instead, we channeled it into visuals that hit hard and linger long after the page is turned. Each illustration is clever and thought-provoking, urging viewers to delve deeper into the complexities of corruption. They are not just literal depictions of straightforward messages; rather, they invite contemplation and reflection on the societal impact of corruption.
In the infographics section, we transform hard data into vibrant, eye-catching visuals. Every statistic is enlivened with bold colors and dynamic design. By making complex information accessible and engaging, we ensure that a wide range of audiences, including whistle-blowers, potential funders, activists, partners, and change-makers, are not only informed but also empowered to be part of the solution.
We selected shades of orange as the primary hue, intertwined with complementary neutral tones like light beige and greys. Orange symbolises optimism and enthusiasm, injecting warmth and vitality into the report’s visual language. This choice resonates emotionally with readers and draws attention to key messages and calls to action.
By strategically applying vibrant orange, alongside bold secondary colours and neutral tones like grey and beige, we established a distinct visual hierarchy within the infographics. This selection guides the reader effortlessly through the data, with the vibrant colours highlighting key elements such as interesting facts, quotes, and essential graphics.
Beyond merely incorporating diverse elements like illustrations, typography, and photography for dynamism, we recognised the pivotal role of a meticulously structured colour palette across its expansive 92 pages. By adhering to this structured palette, every facet of the report seamlessly aligned, ensuring visual harmony and reinforcing our overarching design narrative.
The juxtaposition of grey-scale photography with vibrant colours creates dynamic contrast, captivating the reader’s attention and guiding focus to critical elements. This clever use of colour enhances readability and reinforces the report’s narrative, blending impactful imagery with insightful content.
We selected the font families Gilroy and Helvetica Neue to balance tradition with innovation. Gilroy, with its geometric sans-serif style, injects modernity and sophistication, enhancing readability and visual appeal. Helvetica Neue provides clarity and neutrality, fostering a sense of reliability. This font pairing harmonises traditional elegance with avant-garde illustrations to amplify the report’s impact.
